Technical informations about our plugins (FAQ)
All plugins are 32bit Windows VST plugins . They will work on 64bit hosts with the hosts integrated bridge or 32to64 VST bridges like jbridge. You can run the plugins on Mac with the free VFX Host Software and Soundflower. The MIDI plugins are also VST (not MFX). All Plugins should work with any standard VST host like Reaper, Cubase or Energy. However we suggest to test compatibility with the demo version that is available for most plugins. They can later be removed without traces.
Some Plugins need special MIDI or audio routing for all functions. Please always read the Readme and Manual that comes with the plugin.
(Q) How to install a plugin?
(A) Our plugins don’t have an installer. Just copy the files in the ZIP archive into your hosts VST directory (or a subdirectory you created). If you have Win7 or Vista you need to set write access rights to the directory.
(Q) I have heard that plugins developed with Synthedit don’t sound good and crash on multicore CPU computers.
(A) Synthedit is just a development system. It’s on the developer what comes out of it. Because Synthedit is easy to learn, in the beginning there where many simple plugins published that lead to this now overcome opinion.
Our plugins are made with Synthedit 1 (if not stated otherwise) - there are some multicore systems that might have trouble if more then 2 instances of the same plugin are used in one song (this does not affect all multicore PCs!). There is a workaround for this by making copies of the .dll file in the plugin folder with different names (plug1.dll, plug2.dll) and opening the next numbered plugin in the host after each 2 instances. Some hosts also allow to assign the core used for plugins. If you test your system one time by using a plugin on more than two tracks in your host and do not experience problems, your system is not affected!
Future plugins will be done with the new Synthedit 1.1 that does not have this issue.
(Q) Are the free plugins really free?
(A) They are free to use for any private or commercial musical project. Some have a reminder nagscreen at startup to ask for a donation. There are no other limitations. However it is not allowed to redistribute, sell, recompile or publish copies somewhere without our permission.
(Q) Do the commercial plugins have a copy protection?
(A) No! Our plugins do not have a protection like elicenser or C/R. The costs and drawbacks would be higher than the benefits. We believe in the honesty of our customers, not to copy the results of our hard work for other people.
The customer is allowed to install the bought plugin on all his computers, as long as only one is used at a time. Commercial studios need to buy a licence per computer.
(Q) Does any plugin contain adware or spyware or make changes on my computer system?
(A) NO ! We even do not use .exe installers - you just copy the content of the delivered archive into your DAWs plugin folder. Upon the first start, the plugins will create a subfolder with necessary work files (that’s why the folder needs to have write access for the user). By deleting the .dll and subfolder all of the plugin will be removed. Some old virus scanners reported false positives with some plugin work files. These were not true and do not show up with recent antivirus programs that are up to date.
(Q) Are the plugins available for MAC OSX?
(A) Sorry, no. It’s not planned in the near future. You can run the plugins on Mac with the VFX Host Software and Soundflower.
(Q) When downloading a plugin, what do I do with that file?
(A) You receive a ZIP archive that has to be unpacked, for example with Winzip, 7Zip or the unpacker in Windows. The content needs to be placed in the folder, where your DAWs plugins are , (for example
C>PROGRAM FILES>STEINBERG>VST PLUGINS)
(Q) What sample rated are supported?
(A) All plugins should work at all sample rates.
(Q) What are the system requirements for the plugins?
(A) Most of our plugins need little CPU and RAM power only. Any 1,5Ghz CPU with 512MB RAM should be enough. Any VST compatible host like Reaper, EngergyXT or Cubase will do. If your host is 64bit use jbridge.
(Q) How do I order a plugin?
(A) We use Paypal as payment system when ordering. You do not need to be a member of Paypal, they also accept credit cards and other methods. We do not see your credit card data or others. Delivery of the plugin is by direct download (click “Return to merchant” after payment) or by email (if stated). For some plugins we offer direct download after payment at ShareIt. Please check that the email adress you use is valid and working, that your mail account is not rejecting our mails as spam or is out of quota, or we can not send you the plugin or the download link!
(Q) I am afraid to buy something, because I heard bad things about Paypal
(A) Paypal is a big bank company with many members. The more users there are, the more likely someone will report a problem in the internet (bad opinions are always spread more than good ones). If you search for it, you will always find someone complaining about any payment company. Most users did not experience any problems with Paypal when following their banking rules. You do not need an account at paypal to send a payment to us. In any case we do not see your credit card data. We just get your name and email adress to send you the plugin.
(Q) When I order or contact you, is my email adress private?
(A) We do NOT give away any data of our customers. We save your email adress to inform you about updates or important news of our plugins. We do not send galore spam.
(Q) I have seen your plugins sold on other pages for lower prices (for example as OEM versions) ?!
(A) WOK plugins can only be bought here from our page or at ShareIt ! We do not offer OEM versions or allow other persons to sell our plugins, so what you see sometimes on other pages (together with much other expensive software) are illegal copies!
